Whole School Events 2021/2022
David McKee
Our whole school community was saddened to learn of the passing of author David McKee.
David McKee was a wonderful children’s author and illustrator. His books are regularly used for story reading and as part of wider curriculum projects at Tavistock Primary and Nursery School. The way he was able to highlight feelings of isolation, as in ‘Not Now Bernard’ or how it feels to be different from others, as in his Elmer stories, are perfect texts for teaching children about these complex emotions.
The ‘Elmer’ we designed and decorated as a school in 2019, as part of the Elmer project, has pride of place in our school library and is a constant reminder of David McKee’s connection to the local area.
Morrisons 'Good to Grow'
You might remember that a while back in the autumn term we asked you to collect and hand in vouchers from Morrisons? Well, you did not disappoint!
We got so many goodies to support outdoor and environmental education and they have finally arrived!
Have a look into the environmental garden when you walk past and you might see our new bug box.
The children are thrilled with their new things!
A Visit from the Easter Bunny
Today our children had a very special visitor.
Our lovely HSA has helped the Easter Bunny source a chocolate egg for each child. They were thrilled to meet the big bunny himself!
HSA Duck Race
Thank you to all who came along to yesterdays Duck Race. It was a tad chilly, but a lot of fun.
Thank you to those who bought a duck or donated prizes too...we have had a lot of happy faces at school this morning, and some very confused looking ducks on the canal!
We had 332 ducks in duck race yesterday (329 ours, 3 peoples own ducks) which is amazing and means we have raised...
£332
It was our best year yet! We doubled/tripled previous years and are hugely grateful to all involved!
Wreath Making Workshop
Wow! The HSA Wreath Making workshop was a HUGE success! We have learnt a fantastic new skill that can be used year after year - and my front door looks great! A MASSIVE thank you to both Rhea and Julia for all of your hard work planning, organising and delivering the workshop. A mammoth amount of work goes on behind the scenes.
Children in Need Day 2021
Our children certainly made a big effort on Pudsey's special day! We had spots, PJ's and face paint - aren't our children creative?
Well done to everybody, we raised a whopping £310!
Harvest Festival
We had a lovely Harvest Festival service this morning at St Eustachius Church with Rev. Hazel. Thank you to all the parents who joined us. All donations will be going to our local Food Bank.
House Captains
The results are in and your new House Captains have been appointed! Congratulations and welcome to your new role, Eloise, Cooper, Lottie, Maddison, Ruby, Francesca, Daniel and Phoebe!
Toddler and Baby Group
On Wednesday we had a very welcome return of our Toddler and Baby group. The little ones got stuck into playtime, getting creative with paints, reading stories and singing songs with this week’s theme ‘Farm’. We had lots of happy faces all around.
Big thank you to Mrs Ruth for making the session such fun!
'Better Together' Song
The children have been lucky enough to have parent Tracy Harding work with them to create this wonderful original song 'Better Together'.
Daily Mile Track
You might have noticed that over the summer holidays a purpose built sports track has appeared on our field. This track is to encourage our students to blow off some steam and get in their daily mile.
The children all agree that it is a great addition to our outdoor space!
