Our School Dog – Simba

At Tavistock Primary and Nursery School, we are delighted to introduce Simba, our much‑loved school dog. With his gentle nature and calm temperament, Simba has quickly become an important and valued member of our school community.

Simba supports our children in many ways. He offers comfort and companionship during busy school days, helps to create a calm and nurturing atmosphere, and is always ready to share a friendly nudge or a wagging tail with anyone who needs a boost. Pupils enjoy reading to Simba, spending quiet time with him when they feel anxious, and learning how to care for animals responsibly.

Whether he is greeting families at the gate, visiting classrooms, or relaxing in the pastoral room, Simba brings joy, confidence and smiles wherever he goes. He is fully risk‑assessed, cared for responsibly, and always supervised to ensure the safety and wellbeing of both pupils and himself.

Simba is truly part of the Tavistock family – and we are very lucky to have him.
